Now you have your kit, here is how to connect it up.
As you may already know we have 3 base kits. The , the and the . Reardles of which kit you have they all connect pretty much the same way.
Please check the contents of your kit. Our dispatch guys wouldve most likely chucked in a business card and leaflet for you to give to your mates as we are positive you'll love your system and your mates will want one too.
You'll see that once you lay out the components that its pretty self explanitory of what goes where. There will be yellow plugs for the video signal and white for the audio signal, more info at bottom of page. The black and red plugs are for DC power (the 8x AA battery pack). If you have a kit which has the water proof/crush proof inline quick connection, please know that this connection can only be plugged together one way. There is an internal sleeve that prevents the plugs going together unless lined up correctly.
The camera fits snugly into the crush proof mount. This will allow you to fasten the system to anywhere on your helmet or bike. Once the camera is inside the it is fixed into place using the grub screw and allen key provided.
The cameras come standard with a 3.6mm lens. We have a selection of lenses available. It is as simple as unscrewing the lens from the camera and replacing it with another.
You Camcorder AV lead will have 3 plugs on the end of its cable (red, white and yellow). In this case only use the yellow (video signal) and one of the other two (red or white)
8mm Camcorders:
Connect the helmet camera products as shown in the picture
Switch your video camera to 'video input mode' or 'vcr' mode
Check your camcorders user manual to see how to activate record function from external devices, read below for more info.
Press record and GO
Digital Camcorders:
You must use the AV cable that is supplied with your camcorder (usually some kind of mini phonon pin on one end and RCA plugs on the other)
Connect your AV cable to your camcorder and plug the RCA connections into the helmet camera system. Please see picture above.
Switch your camcorder to 'video input mode' or 'vcr' mode
Check your camcorders 'users manual' (the recording function is different on every model of camcorder with AV inputs, if you own a Sony HC series see here for demo) to see how to activate record function from external devices (some Sony and Canon camcorders will allow for use of an external rec/stop LANC button), as the normal red record button on the camcorder will no longer work now that you have an external device plugged in.
Activate record and GO!
Connecting Your Glands (applies to the only)
The holes have to be 16mm in diameter and must be 20mm apart
The glands have rubber o-rings for water proofing
All three external products are now completely submersible. Now place this set up in a fish tank or swimming pool to check your connections before putting your camcorder inside. Many of our customers prefer to put a layer of silicon on the inside and outside of their casing around the glands for more piece of mind. READY TO GO!
